The getSpec VIS 0378 standard is a sensor-like color measuring tool based on a miniature spectrometer. It does not only allow to distinguish between basic colors, but to measure tiny color differences and profiles, e.g. of plastics and paintwork. The main components of the device are a broadband light source, a fibre-optic measuring head, a miniature spectrograph and a microcontroller with the corresponding periphery.

The device is PC-based and measures in contact to the sample. The measuring head is directly connected to the device and has a measuring geometry of approximately 45°/0°. The effect of shine is excluded to a large extend by illuminating the sample at 45° and measuring the remitted light at 0°. The head must be directly attached to the sample.

getSpec VIS 0378 standard will be delivered with color measuring software.
This software calculates the color values and color differences in different systems. The management of customer specific references is included. getSpec VIS 0378 standard is suited for color and color difference measurement. The results can be obtained in L*a*b*, L*C*h* and XYZ coordinate systems.
The device can be applied to manual quality control as well as for integration in production lines. A version with direct output of color values as L*a*b* or color differences as dE is available for such applications.
Special solutions for non-contact measurement and the involvement into customer specific applications are possible.
